What is coaching?
Coaching is a proven tool to help leaders bridge the gap from learning to results. The Innovative Church Community recognizes the value of this tool and has worked to create a coaching culture to help ministry leaders move toward greater effectiveness.
In a coaching relationship, the client sets the agenda by identifying areas where he or she feels "stuck." The coach helps the client identify problem areas and commit to specific actions to address those situations.

To understand coaching, it helps to know what coaching is not. Coaching is not counseling. In counseling, the therapist helps a client work through past pain to regain emotional health.

In contrast, coaching assumes that the client is working from an emotionally healthy state and is ready to move forward to a higher performance level in his or her life.

Coaching is not consulting. With consulting, an "expert" comes alongside a client to give advice and make suggestions, based on extensive knowledge in a given field. The coach, however does not tote a briefcase full of answers. Believing instead in the client's own resourcefulness, the coach comes alongside the client, helping the client discover his or her own answers.

The coach listens to the client, asks insightful questions and helps the client sort through options for action. The coach and client then agree what actions the client will take before the next coaching session.

How it works
To get the ball rolling, just email coaching@innovativechurcches.org. You specify your top three preferences for coaches, and we’ll do our best to match up with the coach of your choice. Or, if you need more information, let us know.
The first two coaching sessions are free, so you can experience the benefits of coaching before you commit to a six-session coaching experience.

How much does it cost?
Potential coaching clients are offered two free coaching sessions. After the free sessions, sessions are valued at $50 each.
Coach and client negotiate dates and times for the coaching sessions.
The coaching fee must be paid in advance, is non-refundable, and must be paid by check to the Innovative Church Community, which then forwards payment to the coach.
